Peacemaker Second Season Finale to Address Significant Fan Complaint, Showrunner Gunn Reveals

Although the reception for Peacemaker the latest season has been largely favorable, with fans and critics applauding the acting and storyline—even if the big twist in the seventh installment didn't come as a surprise—a particular criticism has intensified as the season continues: decreasing runtime lengths.

Over the past few episodes, audience members have expressed disappointment over the noticeably shorter runtimes in season 2, and indeed, the episodes have been getting shorter and shorter. The seventh episode, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (not counting the recap, opening credits, and closing credits), marking the briefest installment yet.

You'll be happy to know the upcoming finale is over 57 minutes long.

Peacemaker showrunner and DCU boss Gunn posted on Threads, replying to a disappointed fan.

Although this is encouraging, it remains unclear exactly how much of the 57 minutes will be actual new footage, uncluttered by intro and outro segments, or recaps of previous events. That said, should the finale contains all the aforementioned filler, that would still allow for between 45 and 50 minutes for the finale, which is a significant improvement after episode 7.

Gunn previously teased that the last episode would not only conclude Peacemaker but also provide clues regarding the future the greater DCU at large will be moving and serve as a prequel of sorts for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Given the brief appearance of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from episode 6, many are anticipating a juicy cameo to cap off the series.

The show's season conclusion, the eighth episode, is titled "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to see if viewer theories are confirmed.
