New England Equal Longest Victory Run From Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has scored five scores in the present year
New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory increases the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets bottom after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had taken the lead at their home field with QB Fields scoring a short rushing score to finish the Jets' initial series
But the home team fought back in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the endzone in the middle of the third period to make it 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the victory
