Football Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, but can the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, fans and a range of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was previously that team's coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a few people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four matches.

A family member advised me to select Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have have lots of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.

However I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home record, the only side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
